The exhibition explores the determining role played by women (Artemisia Gentileschi, Sofonisba Anguissola, Lavinia Fontana, Elisabetta Sirani… to name but a few) in the practice of painting from 1580 to 1680, from the latter days of the Renaissance to the birth of Baroque. Around 50 exceptional paintings are on display, from the most prestigious musuems and private collections, most rarely or never seen.

Then we will break for lunch near the museum and station.
After lunch we’ll take the train back to Brussels and transition from the Baroque the contemporary, with Sanam Khatibi’s exhibition at the Galerie Rodolphe Janssen.
The work of this Iranian artist revisits the master painters of the Renaissance and lays bare the animality and basic instincts of humankind through an onieric universe. Then we’ll end the day with the Russian artist Nika Neelova, in residence in Brussels : monumental and abstract sculptures populate her futurist universe, where references and objects find their original functions subverted.

We’ll return to Paris on the Thalys N°9382 from Brussels Midi (20.16, arrival in Paris 21.38)
