Visite avec Olivier Gabet, Directeur du Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
Quelle meilleure manière pour les Amis du NMWA que de commencer la journée des femmes, par une exposition dédiée, s’ouvrant le même jour ?
Cette rétrospective interroge le rôle des femmes dans les arts appliqués : le textile, la mode, la céramique, le design mais aussi, la photographie, le dessin… avec des figures majeures comme Hélène Henry, Elsa Schiaparelli, Sonia Delaunay, Charlotte Perriand, Kristin McKirdy, Hella Jongerius, Rei Kawakubo, Matali Crasset, Kristin McKirdy… pour les plus contemporaines.
L’exposition tente de définir l’ampleur des champs investis, de voir comment les femmes passent de la créatrice maîtrisant une technique dans laquelle on l’a souvent cantonnée, à la femme artiste qui s’autorise toutes les pratiques et tous les mediums. Elle se veut aussi le miroir de l’histoire même du musée et de l’institution, pionnière sur la question de la place des femmes.
